Last updated: 2026-05-30
This Privacy Policy explains how the Thore application ("Thore", "we", "us") collects, uses, and protects your information. By using Thore you agree to this policy.
1. Who we are
Thore is a social networking application operated under the name Thore, based in Latvia, European Union. For privacy questions contact us at thore.app@proton.me.
2. Information we collect
We collect only what is needed to run the service:
- Account data: email address, username, display name, and password
- Profile data: optional bio, location, website, avatar and banner images.
- Content you create: posts, comments, reactions, reposts, saved posts, and

authentication session tokens stored securely on your device).
We do not sell your personal data. We do not use third-party advertising trackers.
3. How we use your information
- To create and operate your account.
- To display your content and deliver messages and notifications.
- To enforce safety features (blocking, private accounts, rate limits).
- To maintain the security and integrity of the service.
4. Service providers
Thore uses Supabase (database, authentication, file storage, realtime) to operate the backend. Data is stored on Supabase infrastructure. Push notifications, when enabled, are delivered via the Expo / Firebase Cloud Messaging push services.
5. End-to-end encrypted messages
Direct messages are encrypted on your device with a private key that is stored only on your device's secure storage. An optional encrypted backup of this key, protected by a passcode you choose, may be stored so you can restore your messages after reinstalling or switching devices. We cannot read your encrypted messages and we cannot recover your passcode. If you lose your passcode and your device, encrypted message history may be permanently unrecoverable.
6. Private accounts & visibility
If you set your account to private, your profile, posts, followers and following are hidden from users who do not follow you, and you will not appear in public discovery. Blocking a user hides your content from them and theirs from you.
7. Data retention & account deletion
You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete account. When you delete your account we permanently remove or anonymize your profile, and remove your messages key backup, follow relationships, notifications, reactions, saved posts, and push tokens, and we soft-delete your posts so they no longer appear. Some content may persist in backups for a limited period before being purged.
8. Children
Thore is intended for users aged 16 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child under 16 has provided us data, contact us and we will remove it.
9. Security
We use industry-standard measures including encrypted transport (HTTPS), row-level security on the database, secure on-device storage for keys and sessions, and end-to-end encryption for direct messages. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data.
10. Your rights
As Thore is based in the European Union, we apply the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) standard to all users worldwide. You have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can exercise most of these in-app (including full account deletion), or contact us at thore.app@proton.me.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
